As you can see, this newsmagazine is a work in progress. It needs some tweaking here and there. We’re trying to fine-tune the site to make it easier for you, our dear reader. We appreciate your patience.

We decided on this venture because these are exciting times to publish online, as more and more Filipinos get Internet access, especially via broadband. Perhaps more importantly, we dared to publish because there’s just so much to talk and write about in Davao City, in the Southern Mindanao region, and in the whole of Mindanao.

Our inaugural issue focused entirely on Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. It was an attempt to deconstruct him and to understand him and his controversial methods. All hands were on deck when we prepared that issue. And we intend to harness that kind of commitment to a story, as well as the cooperation and talent of our small staff, as davaotoday.com blazes a new trail in Davao City journalism.
