DAVAO CITY – The “Beat the Wave National Skimboarding Festival” has been scheduled on April 8 and 9 at the Dahican Beach in Mati, Davao Oriental.

Expected to see action are skimmers from Davao City, Butuan, Misamis Oriental, Dipolog, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Leyte, Iligan, Negros Occidental, Tandag, Lanuza, General Santos City, Sarangani and Mati.

“We want to promote Dahican for skimboarding in the region,” said organizer Iñigo Jaldon of Whoosh Davao last week at the Scoop Forum of the Royal Mandaya Hotel.

The Mati Municipal Tourism Office is the host of the event. Cash prizes will be given to the Best in Long Ride, Best Tricks and Best Ride. Registration fee is 250 pesos.

A free transportation to Mati is available on April 7 at 9 a.m (first trip) and 3 p.m. (second trip) from Magsaysay Park in Davao City. (Lito delos Reyes/davaotoday.com)
