In Makilala conclave, the bishops issued unified position against Cha-cha, large-scale mining, among other social issues

DAVAO CITY — Bishops of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente (IFI) or the Aglipay Church are supporting the calls for Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to vacate the presidency.

Following the call from the Citizens Congress for Truth and Accountability, which recently found Arroyo liable for election fraud and other alleged sins, the bishops affirm that Arroyo’s mandate remains in doubt due to charges of poll fraud.  They urge the president to step down from Malacañang, or else face ouster through a people’s movement.

The declaration came after the Aglipay Church held its Council of Supreme BishopsConclave last May 7 to 9 in Makilala, North Cotabato, where the bishops discussed their position on issues concerning the nation.
