Moro Groups to OIC Mission: Check RP’s Rights Abuses

MCPA and Kawagib call on the Organization of Islamic Conference to deny the Arroyo administration’s request for an observer status at the world Muslim body

COTABATO CITY – A progressive Moro rights groups is set to lodge complaints against the Philippine government before the visiting members of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).

“The Bangsamoro’s human-rights situation is marked with the GRP’s (Government of the Republic of the Philippines) blatant offenses (against) the GRP-MNLF peace agreement,” said Ren Jalaluddin Ropeta of the Moro-Christian Peoples’ Alliance (MCPA).

The MCPA’s report to the OIC, he said, “will highlight the Arroyo administration’s war policy in Mindanao, which has (wrought) terror and caused thousands of human-rights violations against the Moro people.”
