He has said before that he would not build a political dynasty. But recently, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, according to this report, changed his mind. He said he would ask his daughter Sara to run as his vice mayor in next year’s election to make sure that no traditional politician (read: former ally turned arch rival Benjamin de Guzman) would rule the city after him.
Sounding every bit like a king bequeathing the throne to his child, Duterte reportedly said: “I have been running this city alone for the past many years and whether I like it or not, I will retire. My father has left me a leadership and this I performed with the utmost desire to bring the people of Davao only the best.”
No kidding! ….won’t be long he will be floating with his own blood. So his family if they don’t careful.
I attempted to send a package to my fiancee in Davao from US. I learned the post office in davao failed to deliver it, even after it arrived in philippines two months ago. This package was sent express and was to arrive to her in 5 days. The davao post office sent it back to me, not even calling her by phone, number on package. I am so dissapointed and hear the problems is widespread in Davao and in Philippines.
Leadership is bequeathed by the people, not by Duterte. susmaryosep, ano ba yan.
Well, that’s just politics.
Considering the mess Nograles left him, I am not surprised Duterte wants his legacy preserved. Remember the Trash lining the streets because the City had no cash to pay the garbage trucks?!!
As for any family disputes, all fathers and daughters have these. It’s just not usually carried out in a public forum, but that is where the office holds them, in the public eye.
yes,i agree to mayor duterte!aja,mayor!
