To the relatives and friends of the Moros who died in separate incidents in Patikul, Sulu, on Jan. 18, the fatalities were not terrorists, as the military called them, but martyrs and victims of a brutal anti-terror campaign that, they say, has victimized even innocent civilians. On Jan. 24, Muslims religious leaders and relatives covered the victims’ graves with mosquito nets and offered food and prayers. (Read the story.) (Contributed photo)

    Beheadings, kidnappings, bombings, hostagings, and extortionings are not the works of martyrs.
