Political violence continues: Three activists leaders ambushed in Iloilo

Bayan Muna Rep. Satur C. Ocampo strongly condemned the ambush on three
Iloilo activists at 9:30 pm yesterday (April 12) that left one of them
seriously injured and two others missing.

Karapatan Iloilo coordinator Jose Ely Garachico sustained gunshot
wounds after three gunmen on board a white Mitsubishi L-300 van with
plate number FVF-643 stopped the activists’ vehicle in Bgy.
Cabandanan, Oton, Iloilo province.

Garachico’s companions, namely, Bayan-Panay chair Nilo Arado and Selda
member Luisa Dominado were abducted by the three gunmen. The two
remain missing as of presstime.

Garachico was rushed to Iloilo Doctors Hospital where he remains in
critical but stable condition.

The three were returning to Iloilo after going to nearby Antique province.

Officials of Bayan-Panay has asked that the local police in Oton,
Iloilo immediately investigate the incident and help find Arado and
Dominado.
