MANILA — In the wake of a leaked Palace memo detailing a hatchet job on progressive
partylists and putting up pro-administration partylists to dominate
Congress, Gabriela Women’s Partylist Representative Liza Largoza Maza today
strongly urged the dissolution of Agbiag Timpuyog Ilocano, Babae Ka, Kalahi
and LYPAD as bogus partylists since their officers and nominees are
government officials.

“These questionable partylists should voluntarily get out of the race, and
we strongly urge Marcelo T. Farinas to categorically state whether he is ,
indeed, a nominee of Agbiag Partylist and not hide behind the Comelec’s
refusal to divulge names of partylist nominees. ” Maza said.

It was Farinas who was the alleged signatory of the leaked Palace memo.
Farinas, however, denied this, to which Maza dared Farinas to explain his
signature on the memo.

“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Farinas’ name has consistently come up
with the controversies regarding the partylist system. In the interest of
fair play, we urge the immediate dissolution of these fake partylists and
for the Comelec to investigate and punish those undermining the partylist
system” Maza stressed.

Gabriela Women’s Party is studying what charges to file against government
officials found to have exercised partisanship using public funds in the
elections. davaotoday.com
