Statement on the First Gentleman’s plan to drop the libel suits versus journalists, including two he filed against Newsbreak:

We’re glad that Mr. Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo has seen the light. He should never have filed these libel cases in the first place.

However, now that these are in the public realm, we would like them to be resolved in court—on their merits. It is important that journalists know what libel really is and is not. This will provide us with parameters to guide us in our work.

And, lastly, we believe we can get an acquittal since we know that we are innocent of the crime of libel.
