MANILA, Philippines — So why was Manny Pacquiao KO’d by Rep. Darlene Antonino Custodio in the fight for the congressional seat of the first district of South Cotabato? Former North Cotabato governor (and now vice-governor) Manny Piñol, in an article published in philboxing.com, offers an answer: betrayal.

“They deserted me at the last minute,” Pacquiao told Piñol. The vice governor pointed out that Pacquiao’s campaigners “got involved in the effort to convince the boxing icon to join the political fray not because they believed Manny could make a difference in Congress but because they wanted to milk him of his hard-earned money.” (davaotoday.com)
