MANILA — Detained Anakpawis lawmaker Crispin Beltran today expressed opposition to the move of the National Telecommunications Commission to require all cellular phone manufacturers, dealers and users to register their units and pay P150 for every phone registered.

    I agree that this is just another revenue-generation scheme for the NTC.

    Assuming, people will pay the additional registration fee – what’s in it for them?

    Will the NTC be able to track, retrieve, and return stolen cel phones that were registered with the NTC?

    If not, the NTC can STFU.
