Social Security System (SSS) Davao manager Manny Tagalog the condonation program of SSS ends on Friday, June 15, 2007.
He reiterated his call for those delinquent housing borrowers to avail of the program and avail of the condonation of penalties and restructuring of their housing loans.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo have signed the Condonation program to help delinquent housing borrowers in paying their delinquent accounts with SSS. She signed the Condonation law last December 2006 and started implementation in January this year.
In answer to a query, Manager Tagalog, who was interviewed during the ARENA XI Forum over DXRP Radyo ng Bayan anchored by Josette Olivera and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said beneficiaries of deceased pensioners who have remarried lose their entitlements and will be liable for prosecution if they continue to encash pension checks sent to them.
If found guilty, persons who have fraudulently withdraw pensions are liable under Republic Act 8282 and will be penalized and imprisoned from six years to 12 years.
Under the law, a member who has reached 65 years of age, whether employed or not, is qualified to receive pension.
Permanent total disability pension is suspended once the member returns to work, recovers from his or her permanent total disability or if he fails to report to the SSS for annual confirmation of pensioners.
