DAVAO CITY — THE province of Davao Oriental has lined up several activities as it joins the celebration of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Week on July 16 to 21.

The Provincial SMED Council (PSMEDC), headed by Louis N. Rabat, has encouraged all its members to support the organization’s activities for the occasion.

To drumbeat the occasion, the PSMEDC, in coordination with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), has scheduled the conduct of an examination for the call centers and medical transcription agents. The examination venue will be at the provincial SME Center located at the Department of Trade and Industry-Davao Oriental (DTI-DO) provincial office at Valles Building, Riza Street, City of Mati.

This activity will provide an opportunity to the provincial job-seekers a chance to work in the said sector. To date, the demand for call center representatives and medical transcriptionists is quite high considering the entry of new investments for the cited industry.

Moreover, Rabat has promoted among its members the display of SMED Week streamers/banners in front of their respective offices. This will manifest that the promotion and development of the SME sector is continuously carried out and that their contribution to the country’s economic growth has always been recognized. Thus, answering this year’s theme of “Galing mo, Pinoy! Go Negosyo!”.

The SMED Week celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 256.
