BREAKING NEWS | Six people were killed during landslides triggered by heavy rains near Mount Diwalwal in Maco, Compostela Valley province, officials said on Monday. A Reuters report quoted an official as also saying that one of the victims was a toddler and that three more people are believed to be still alive and trapped in the mud.
“We’ve pulled out six bodies from the mudslide, including a toddler,” Carmelito Lupo, an official with the Office of Civil Defense, told reporters. “It has been raining for several days here and it could have loosened the soil.” Mount Diwalwal, where the Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett is currently shooting a film, is a gold-rush site known for the numerous landslides that have killed hundreds of people over the years.
