Jul. 14, 2007

DAVAO CITY — A Dutch business consultant is urging the local business community, particularly the export industry, to expand their market to Europe.

Chris Antonissen, a PUM Netherland senior expert, said that now is the right time for Davao exporters to focus on the European market since the European Union is expanding and theres a growing need for new products and new visions.

He urged the local business community to expand their horizon and not just focus on the regional market.

This July 19, as part of the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises 2007 Week, Mr. Antonissen will be the speaker for the forum entitled Destination: The Netherlands-Gateway to Europe. The forums venue will be held at the Lispher Inn in Matina.

Mr. Antonissens forum will touch on exploring business opportunities among the local, Dutch and European markets by determining the market demand in Europe, what the local market has to offer, filling the market gap and identifying possible business linkages and partnerships via the Netherlands.

Antonnisen is currently the consultant on the Davao Citys PROPEL (Promoting Regional Opportunities and Livelihood Development) which is behind the Proudly Davao branding system that aims to upgrade the current level of appreciation for excellence and quality of locally manufactured products thus creating or facilitating access to markets locally and in other parts of the world.
