‘Domeng’ to pour heavy rains in Eastern,Central Visayas

DAVAO CITY (5TH Update)— Tropical Depression Domeng continues to move northwest over the northern edge of the South Philippine Sea as it maintains its threat to Eastern and Central Visayas.State weather bureau PAG-ASA in its 4:00 am weather bulletin issued today, spotted Tropical Depression “Domeng” at 340 km East Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move Northwest at 5 kph.

Domeng is expected to slow its northwesterly track throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the core of TD Domeng will move across the southern edge of the East Philippine Sea on Wednesday through Friday evening.

PAG-ASA said Caraga and Central and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

The rainbands associated with the slow-moving Tropical Depression Domeng are likely to bring moderate to heavy rains along Eastern and Central Visayas including Surigao Provinces, Dinagat and Siargao Islands beginning Friday morning, April 11 through Sunday morning, April 13.

Moderate to Heavy rains of 30 to 50 mm are likely to occur beginning Friday morning until Monday morning.
