DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Davao City Library and Information Office will now be open from 7am to 7pm starting June 1, an official said Tuesday.

Pedrita M. Badar, officer-in-charge of the Davao City Library and  Information Office said the new operating schedule will give the public more time to do research and access library facilities. The city library and information center previously opens from 8am to 5pm.

Badar said the decision to adjust the schedule was in response to requests and to benefit those who are attending review sessions and summer classes.

She said library clients had been asking for extension of the operating hours because the current schedule only provided them limited time to review notes and browse through supplemental reading materials.

Badar said there will also be no noon break for library staff under the new 12-hour operating time.

“This is to give maximum service to our clients,” she said.

“To students and professionals who are continuing their studies, they can stay at the library after office hours,” Badar said.

She said despite the extended operating hour, employees will still render the mandatory 8-hour service with some of the employees reporting at 7 am, while some at 10 am.(davaotoday.com)
