DAVAO CITY, Philippines—The local government here will partner with various universities and colleges implement  aftercare program for drug personalities.

Speaking at the I-Speak Media Forum Thursday, Michael Aportadera, co-chair of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac), said the program will complement the rehabilitation program of the Department of Health for drug dependents.

The program would help drug personalities who surrender to the authorities and agree to go through government-initiated reform, he said.

Aportadera said the schools will provide services, especially psychological intervention to help drug personalities reform.

“We are going to come up with a memorandum of agreement with the academe for their participation in our aftercare program,” Aportadera said. “This is the first time that various universities and colleges come together to help drug reformists in the city.”

Some of the schools that committed to provide services were Ateneo de Davao University, University of Mindanao, Brokenshire College, Davao Doctors College, University of Immaculate Conception, Rizal Memorial College, and MATS College of Technology.

According to CIO dispatch, Cadac has  recorded at least 9,322 drug surrenderees as of October 5.(davaotoday.com)
