DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Local inventions that help reduce air pollution will be exhibited in an invention event slated on Nov. 15 to 17 at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building, coinciding with the observance of the National Clean Air Month.

In a news conference Thursday, Virgilio M. Sangutan, president of Davao Inventors Association said the event aims to promote awareness and educate the public to use electronic devices that contribute less pollution in the air.

Sangutan said the air pollution in Davao is not yet alarming unlike in Metro Manila.

“If we don’t take actions or make solution for this growing pollution then these may become our problem, soon we will go out on our houses with mask,” he said.

Sangutan said that 16 inventors will showcase their inventions like smoke catchers and electric tricycles.

Price of the inventions during the upcoming exhibit have not yet revealed but he assured that price won’t be costly.

“We are creating local made electric tricycle not like the China tricycle products, soon there will be local made products of electric bus and jeepneys already,” he said.

For its part, the Davao City Airshed Governing Board has also urged the the public to patronize local inventions that helps promote a clean environment.

Engr. Melvin M. Dapitanon, a member of the board from DENR, said that they can determine the current air pollution condition of the city through conduction emission inventories.

“We can determine through emission inventories which sources from the city has the biggest chunk on creating air pollution in the city,” he said. (davaotoday.com)
