USEP opens basic Japanese, Mandarin courses

DAVAO CITY — In July 2007, the University of Southeastern Philippines through its Institute of Languages (ILs) shall offer three special language courses: Basic 1 Japanese, Basic 2 Japanese and Basic 1 Mandarin. These programs focus on conversational and functional Japanese and Mandarin languages.

The offering of these types of programs aim to address the necessity for society as a whole to recognize the value of foreign languages and to create an atmosphere and environment where foreign language is seen as vitally important in increasing human resource competitive advantage.

Basic 1 and 2 Japanese courses are good for two months while the Basic 1 Mandarin program is only for a month. Students shall meet with instructors on the following schedules. Basic 1 Japanese every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 5:30-8:30 pm; Basic 2 Japanese every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 5:30-8:30 pm; and Basic 1 Mandarin every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 5:30-8:30 pm.

Registration is going on. Course fee is Php2,500.00.
