TAGUM CITY—A month after hosting the Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA), the Davao del province will again host another nationwide sports event this year, dubbed as the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games on April 6-12, 2014 at Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex (DNSTC).

Davao del Norte Information Officer Romulo Tagalo told DavaoToday that a total of 4,271 athletes and coaches have confirmed to join the PRISAA Meet 2014, adding that “extensive preparations and planning are being made to ensure that there will be no glitches be encountered.”

Tagalo said “they will be using the same preparations templates during the hosting DAVRAA 2014 like the playing venues while the billeting will be taken cared of the DepEd-Tagum City Division since other delegations prefer hotels and inns.”

Tagalo added that initial plans have been discussed during the 2nd Executive Meeting which was attended by Tagum City  Mayor Alan Rellon, Dr. Pedro San Jose, CHED XI Director Dr. Raul Alvarez, PRISAA Pres. Ma. Lita Montalban and DavNor Provincial Administrator Norma A. Lumain.

Coaches and athletes from 17 regions will congregate in Tagum City to compete in different sporting events such as Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Sepak Takraw Beach Volleyball Baseball , Softball , Volleyball, Football, Boxing, Chess, Karate-do, Judo, Dance Sports, Lawn Tennis,  Table Tennis and Swimming.

PRISAA, founded in February 17, 1953, is an association of private schools, Christian schools, and home school and is the country’s largest national athletic association with more than 500 member colleges and universities from the entire Philippines aiming to carrying out the mandate of “promoting physical fitness and sports development among youth with the help of various government departments and agencies and private entities.” (Mart D.
