DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The World Freestyle Football Federation (WFFF) will hold the two-day 4th Asian Freestyle Football Championship here on Dec.9-10 at SM Lanang Premier.

The event is a partnership of the Liga ng mga Barangay, Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office and the Department of Education.

Filipino-Norwegian Philip Warren Gertsson said that he aspires to get back the Asian Championship title which he won in 2014.

“Hopefully we’ll take back the title which was taken from me last year in Indonesia, hopefully I will take it back here in the Philippines,” Gertsson said during Monday’s press conference at SM Annex Davao.

Several international professional freestyle footballers were also present during the conference. Each of them presented a short performance showing the crowd a sight of freestyle football.

There are 21 participants from 12 different countries expected to show off their skills in the said event.

Freestyle football or freestyle soccer is a sport in which one performs various tricks with a football using different parts of the body.

Maharlika Sports Development Institute Executive Director Edgar Te said the aim of the event is to “create a responsible sports development program for children.”

The chosen 16 participants will be going to the finals which will be announced on Saturday, Dec 10. (davaotoday.com)
