DAVAO CITY – A regional chapter of a national labor allince will lead a four kilometer run in the city for their campaign on setting P16,000 as the monthly national minimum wage in the country.

All Workers’ Unity (Awu) in Southern Mindanao, said their activity “Run for 16K” or “Run for a P16,000 National Minimum Wage” is a way “to ensure our families’ survival.”

In a facebook post, the group said “at present, the wage levels in the region which range from P286-P317 are far from the family living wage of P1,086 per day.”

“This is how much a worker with a family of five (5) members needs to live decently,” said the group.

The run will be on April 26 and the assembly will be at the city’s Magsaysay Park at 4:30 am.

The group said the Run for 16k will take the route: Magsaysay Park – Uyanguren – Jacinto Extension – Quirino (Central Bank)- Magallanes and will end at the Rizal Park or a total of four kilometers.
