DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A local official on Tuesday, October 17 said government officials and businessmen from Japan’s second largest city has committed to promote Davao City to its residents and the business community.

In a statement, Lemuel Ortonio, the chief of the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center, said the 22-member team from Davao City commenced the roadshow in Osaka.

There, they met with the officials of the Osaka City Government International Relations Department, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and various tourism associations, tour operators, and travel agencies.

“There are commitments from Osaka officials and businessmen to help promote Davao City to Osaka residents and the business community. We hope these will translate to actual visits and investments in Davao,” Ortonio said.

Ortonio said the Osaka City Government facilitated them a visit to the Osaka Central Wholesale Market Honjo where they received a presentation on what goods are in demand in Osaka.

The local government’s Tourism and Investment Roadshow in Japan kicked off Monday, October 16 in a bid to attract more tourists and investors to the city. The roadshow is in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo.

The city’s 22-member team included representatives of the private sector namely, Damosa Land Inc., Yovel Agri Enterprise and Yovel East Research and Development Inc., Bloomers Travel and Tours and Bloomers Marketing, Eden Nature Park and Resort, Gasera Corporation, Waterfront Insular Hotel Hotel, and Ana’s Breeders Farms.

The roadshow will also include visits to the key cities of Kyoto, Yokohama, and Tokyo. (davaotoday.com)
