DAVAO CITY — The crowd favorite contestant number 11, Allyza Molly T. Teodoro from Buhangin Proper was crowned Mutya ng Dabaw 2016 on Tuesday night, March 15.

During the question and answer portion the five candidates were asked with different questions. But when Teodoro was asked if she would consider herself competing the Mutya ng Dabaw even if there were no cash prize involved, she ended with the famous quote by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

“Yes, I would still join Mutya ng Dabaw without cash prize, because I believe that true beauty is not in the physical outlook. As long as you have eyes that are able to see what other people’s eyes can’t see, ears that are able to hear the clamor of your fellowmen and lips that are able to speak words of wisdom, knowledge and understanding and your hands are able to touch the lives of others with mercy and compassion, then you don’t need to be famous to help other people as long as you have a heart, you are confidently beautiful with a heart,” said Teodoro.

The 21-year old student from the University of Immaculate Concepcion thanked her whole barangay and church mates who were the liveliest crowd throughout the event.

Her advocacy focuses on the interest and welfare of out-of-school youth through sports and alternative learning system education.

The venue was packed with residents from different barangays, schools and organizations who gathered to cheer their candidates and witnessed the coronation night of one of the most awaited events of the Araw ng Dabaw.

The top 15 candidates were selected to represent their beauty together with their advocacy for the city on Tuesday night at the Davao City Recreation Center.
