DOTC expects influx of passengers as early as Dec. 26

Dec. 26, 2018

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is expecting another round of passenger influx starting in the afternoon of December 26, the agency’s operations chief said.

General Manager Aiza Usop said they are now anticipating again a high number of passengers going out of Davao City starting Wednesday as the government declared the suspension of work in government offices.

“We are expecting passengers going home because its holiday and many of them are having a long vacation,” said Usop.

On December 24, an estimated number of 80,000 passengers waited for buses going to the different destination outside Davao City, Usop added.

The DCOTT chief also said that 20 additional special permits were released by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to augment buses that would cater passengers en route to Cagayan de Oro City.

The number of bus trips has increased from 700 to 750 trips during regular days to more than a thousand bus trips just on the day before Christmas.

“We asked Atty. Delgra of the TFRB to approve additional special permits to cater the passengers” she said.

She added that on December 24, passengers going to CDO have the most number of passengers adding an estimated number of 30-40 percent from its original number.

Meanwhile, Usop said that aside from the shortage of buses, DCOTT did not encounter any problems due to the strict implementation of rules and safety measures. (davaotoday.com)
