DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has asked the public to continue following the protocols set by the local government on Enhanced Community Quarantine as she disclosed the barangays with positive cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in the city.

As per administrative district, Talomo topped the list with 27 cases, followed by Buhangin with 21, Poblacion with nine, Agdao with four, Toril with two, and Bunawan, Paquibato, and Calinan with one case each.

She also disclosed the villages with patients who fully recovered from the virus, who have patients currently undergoing the treatment, and who have patients who succumbed from the virus during Monday’s radio interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio,

The mayor mentioned the areas of Angliongto, Cabantian, Indangan, Bago Aplaya, Aquino, 76-A, Catalunan Grande, 19-B, Tigatto, Ma-a, Daliao, Saloy, 11-B, Guerrero St., Dumanlas, Lopez Village in Matina, R. Castillo, Garcia Heights, Bajada, and Lizada.

She clarified, though, that despite the number of cases and areas identified to have COVID-19 positive patients, she is not supporting the call to have an individual barangay lockdown.

“If I were to decide, I prefer to have a household lockdown,” said the city mayor.

SPMC has 12 infected frontliners

Meanwhile, Dr. Leopoldo Vega, Chief of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), disclosed in an online presser that after they conducted confirmatory testing to 300 of their employees, 12 were found COVID-19 positive and have been included in the total confirmed cases in the region.

“That’s about 4.4 percent (of the total SPMC employees tested),” he said.

Out of the 12 positive cases, 10 were already discharged while two are still admitted in the hospital.

Dr. Vega had earlier acknowledged that health workers in SPMC are vulnerable to the highly-infectious disease as they have direct contact with different patients every day. (davaotoday.com)
