BIR estimates 700 taxpayers beat income tax filing

Apr. 17, 2015

DAVAO CITY – The Bureau of Internal Revenue estimated that more than 700 taxpayers beat the deadline last April 15.

Assistant Revenue Officer Ricardo B. Espiritu said that the operation ended at 10:00 pm to accommodate the last batch of taxpayers.

“We counted more than 700 applicants at around 5:00 pm. But each of them has five, ten, fifteen (files), so there are really a lot of them,” Espiritu said.

Espiritu urges taxpayers to file and pay their taxes early to avoid inconvenience.

“They should really file their taxes early, maybe two weeks before the deadline,” he said.

He also added that the BIR has done their part in disseminating the information about the deadline. (davaotoday.com)
