DAVAO CITY – A local official here said the city’s income from the night market has almost doubled from last year’s figures.
Retired Colonel Yusop Jimlani, chief of the Drainage Maintenance and Demolition Unit, said the City Treasurer’s Office’s collection reached P2,338,805 from January to June this year, compared to the P2,242,867 which was collected from January to December last year.
He said they had a hard time collecting from the vendors before.
“Kaniadto man gud di nato ni makuha nga income, kadaghan sa atoang mga kaigsuonang mga vendors katong wala pa ang night market, lisod sila kolektahon kay kung adtuon nimo manglayas mani (We cannot collect this income before. Most of the vendors refuse to pay up,” Jimlani said.
There are currently 166 accessories vendors, 78 food vendors and 353 ukay-ukay (used clothes) vendors.
Jimlani said Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte also asked him to handle masseurs who have 14 associations and 30 manicurists.
He said they collect either monthly or daily “depending on the capacity of the vendors.” (davaotoday.com)
