DAVAO CITY, Philippines- A city councilor on Tuesday deplored the water shortage in the city.

Speaking at the Pulong-Pulong ni Pulong press conference, Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang of the 2nd district said residents in his jurisdiction have no access to water from the Davao City Water District for almost a month.

Despite the water shortage, DCWD has continued to bill the residents for services, the councilor claimed.

“Services are not given to us and I think some will be requesting for refund,” Dayanghirang added.

Dayanghirang also said that the dengue cases in Cabantian and some parts of Sasa have increased because a lot of people are re-stocking water.

“Cabantian barangay captain told me during the dialogue last Sunday that the dengue incidents in Cabantian went up because they tend to stock water,” he said.

He also questioned the 35 million-water treatment facility that was recently constructed by the DCWD but is still not being used.

Dayanghirang warned that if the DCWD will not improve, they would have to consider opening the program to other key players in the water industry.

“I will leave it to Mayor Sara Duterte. I am and we are not satisfied of the performance of water district,” Dayanghirang said. (davaotoday.com)
