Tagum to teach real property tax to Grade 9 students

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—To increase awareness on taxation among high school students, the city government of Tagum has rolled out a learning module on real property tax for Grade 9 students, the City Information Office said on Thursday.

Edwin Lasquite, information officer of Tagum CIO, said the learning module was bared last October 2 at the new City Hall building.​​​

He ​said the learning module ​crafted by the City Treasurer’s Office​ and the ​Department of Education​’s ​Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRDMS) Division of Tagum City.

“The module includes the fundamental principles for general provisions, appraisal and assessment, special levies, collection and disposition of proceeds, and remedies on the collection of real property tax delinquencies,” Lasquite said.

Leila Ibita, the ​DepEd ​e​ducation ​p​rogram ​s​upervisor for ​Araling Panlipunan, who accepted the learning module, recognized the need of teaching young students “the importance of tax to our economy and the role of the local government unit in maximizing these money to produce top notch public service programs.”
