DAVAO CITY, Philippines – 22 employees of Davao City Hall were found to have been infected with coronavirus (Covid-19), but details were not divulged how and where they got infected.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio divulged this data during an interview Tuesday with the Davao City Disaster Radio. She detailed that 12 of the employees have already recovered, two others are on home quarantine, while the rest are under quarantine in the city’s monitoring facilities.

The City Government of Davao employs 12,000 people, and in this pandemic they have been working under shifts to observe health protocols. But the mayor had earlier called out one employee for not wearing a face mask inside City Hall, and imposed fines for employees violating protocols.

The mayor also corrected her previous statement that an employee died of Covid-19, clarifying that the employee did not undergo a Covid-19 test before expiring.

“I am wrong, it was not tested and immediately expired, and he was considered as COVID suspected but was not tested,” said Mayor Duterte-Carpio.

As of September 1, Davao City has recorded more than 1,300 cases of coronavirus with 55 deaths. (davaotoday.com)
