The Davao Doctors Hospital recently purchased a state-of-the-art Siemens Axiom Artis Cath Lab System, a cardiac diagnostic equipment that can detect whether a patient needs to perform Angiogram, Angioplasty, and Heart By-Pass.

“It’s a 46 million peso (piece of) equipment that we purchased to upgrade DDH facilities in the hope of providing excellent service to our patients,” said DDH President and CEO Dr. Dominador Cabrera as he led the inauguration of the new Cath Lab.

Cabrera added that the new Cath Lab technology is equipped with the most innovative solution to increase productivity for hospitals by giving physicians the most precise patient information they need — accurate details to assist in diagnosis and treatment. He said the Cath Lab uses cutting-edge digital flat detectors that presents outstanding image quality. Cabrera also claimed that their new acquisition even reduces the radiation dose.

The upgrading of equipment is part of DDH’s efforts to discourage local patients, including those from other parts of of Mindanao, to have to travel all the way to Cebu and Manila to have medical treatments and operations done.

The Siemens Axiom Artis Cath Lab System belongs to the top five equipment that is offered by the leading hospitals in the country.

“We have upgraded our system and you can now see brand new machines and facilities in DDH. This has made our patients more confident in trusting our hospital,” said Dr Bernard Chiew, Director of the DDH Heart Institute. Chiew shared that most of the patients that availed of the services are “expats” who want to retire in Davao City . These retirees have always included health facilities as part of the criteria in choosing the place to retire. (PIA/Mai Gevera)
