DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The city’s Lingap Para sa Mahirap, a government program which caters to the needs of indigent patients has transferred to its new office.

For years, the city government’s program for indigents who need medical and funeral assistance has been accessible at the city hall.

On Monday, the Lingap office has transferred to Pichon street, formerly known as Magallanes St. The new office is the former Government Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, in front of Magallanes Elementary School.

“The place will be more favorable and comfortable, especially to elderlies, pregnant women, and clients who bring along their kids,” said Atty. Raul Nadela, Jr. City Mayor’s chief of staff.

“Moving Lingap to a new location makes the social service more accessible to the public,” Nadela said.

The Lingap Para sa Mahirap, with the help of social workers from the City Social Services and Development Office is accommodating around 150 to 200 persons per day.

It also has an office at the Southern Philippines Medical Center which provides medical assistance for those who are confined at the said hospital. (davaotoday.com)
