CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines – Health authorities confirmed Monday that four of the new 13 cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are residents of Northern Mindanao while others are from other regions.

The Department of Health (DOH) Region 10’s Regional Director Dr. Adriano Suba-an said the four patients are from Iligan City, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Cagayan de Oro. All four are in isolation at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

The patient from Iligan, a 67-year-old female, was brought to NMMC on March 19 and was reported to have traveled to Metro Manila and Bulacan between Feb. 28 and March 3.

The patient from Misamis Occidental is a 45-year-old male from Jimenez with a travel history to Thailand and Metro Manila. He was admitted to a hospital in Ozamiz City on March 24.

The third case is a 67-year-old male from Tubod, Lanao del Norte who was admitted at NMMC on March 24, with no known exposure to a confirmed case.

The last case, also known as “patient 597,” is a 71-year-old male from Cagayan de Oro.

Other patients are confined at Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi and Hilarion Ramiro Sr. Medical Center in Ozamiz.

Other patients from outside the region include a 66-year-old female known as Patient 598 from Lanao del Sur, who was intercepted at the Laguindingan Airport on March 13 and brought to NMMC on March 15.

The person has recently tested negative for Covid-19 and is now recovering.

In a separate press briefing held Monday, NMMC Director Dr. Jose Chan said there are 17 persons under investigation (PUIs) now being put on isolation at NMMC.

Of the 17, six are from Cagayan de Oro, one from Lanao del Norte, three from Lanao del Sur, two from Iligan, one from Bukidnon, and three from Misamis Occidental, Chan said. (davaotoday.com)
