DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Davao City Health Office (CHO) reported a total of 2,330 cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) cases, figures that rose since the increase in HIV testing in all business establishments in the city.

The National Capital Region has the highest cases of recorded HIV with 32 percent. This is followed by Region 4A with 15 percent, Region 7 with 10 percent and Region 3 with 9 percent. While the Davao Region and Region 12 tied up at fifth place with 4 percent recorded HIV cases.

Some regions like region 10,1,8,5,9,2,4B,CARAGA,CAR, and ARMM have also cases of HIV placing them in the top 10 regions.

Data shows that everyday there are around 32 HIV recorded cases in the country.

City Health’s Priscilla Senoc said from January 1984 to February 2018, CHO recorded 46,530 male and 3,115 female victims of AIDS.

They also recorded heterosexual cases of transmission for 5,594 men and 3,115 women.

Male to male sex transmission posed 25,704 cases and bisexual sex transmission has reached to 15,232 cases.

Mother-child transmission posted at 80 cases for males and 64 cases for females.

The City Health has stepped up its information drive on AIDS.
