Tagum receives P1M for winning nutrition program contest

TAGUM CITY, Philippines— Tagum City was awarded as this year’s grand slam winner for being a Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) on the implementation of the local government’s nutrition programs on Monday, October 30.

In a statement issued by the Tagum City Information Office, the CROWN award was bestowed by the Regional Nutrition Council of the Department of Health in recognition to the city government’s effort to improve the nutritional status of the youth.

The city received P1 million cash prize, a plaque of recognition, and the prestigious Green Banner Award. The awarding ceremony took place at SMX Convention, Lanang, Davao City last Thursday, October 26.

Tagum City Mayor Allan L. Rellon received the award, together with Hon. Jan Dmitri Sator, the City Nutrition Action Officer, while the award was was given by the National Nutrition Council Region XI led by Maria Teresa Ungson, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator.

For three years in a row, Tagum has been consistent and proven its “exemplary” management of the various nutrition programs as one of the success indicators of the city government. (davaotoday.com)
