PAL opens more domestic route from Davao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The country’s flag carrier Philippines Airlines (PAL) opened three new routes from Davao City to serve more Filipino passengers.

Starting October 28, PAL would offer daily flights on selected routes: Davao-Zamboanga (twice weekly), Davao-Siargao (four times a week), Davao-Clark (thrice weekly), and another inter-island route from Cagayan de Oro (CDO) to Clark (thrice weekly).

PAL Senior Assistant Vice president for Philippine Sales Harry Inoferio bared they are adding up flights because the passengers said the seats are inadequate especially on Davao-Clark route.

“Our national flight carrier offers all of these for the benefit of the passengers. We are grateful for their continued patronage,” Inferio told reporters during the PAL Night held at Kadayawan Square on Sunday, August 19.

Inoferio also expressed an apology to the public on the recent issue involving a PAL plane from Manila which caused a runaway closure of the airport.

The PAL flight PR2541 (Manila-Dumaguete) experienced a tire failure while attempting to landing at the Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport in Negros Oriental on Tuesday morning, August 14.

“PAL would like to ask for your understanding kay dili pud dali nga ibalik ang mga flights. Pero hantod karon amoa gyud gisuwayan nga kadtong mga pasahero nga na-stranded dinhi sa Davao kay makalupad dayon didto sa Manila,” he said.

(PAL would like to ask for your understanding because it is not easy to have the flight schedules back on track. Until now, we are trying to help the stranded passengers here in Davao to fly immediately to Manila.)

Inoferio said there are two airplanes from New Zealand, and Netherland Australia landed in this city since there is no space in Manila.

“Until now, we are opening special flights just to accommodate our passengers,” he explained.

He also said the flights that have been re-booked or rerouted are all for free.

PAL has established Davao International Airport as a domestic hub and has stepped up promotions of Davao as a prime tourism destination.

The carrier operates six domestic flights out of the PAL Davao hub – to Manila, Cebu, Clark, Tagbilaran, Siargao and Zamboanga.(davaotoday.com)
