Magnitude 6 quake jolts Mindanao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A magnitude 6 earthquake jolted Mindanao at 5:21, Wednesday morning.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletin issued at 7:10 am, the location of the quake at 6 kilometers southwest (07.66°N, 124.69°E – 006 km S 87° W) of Wao town in Lanao del Sur with a depth of one kilometer.

The strongest intensity was felt at Wao, Lanao del Sur and Kalilangan town in Bukidnon at Intensity VII. Intensity IV was fel in six cities including Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cotabato City, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental and Matalam town in North Cotabato.

Meanwhile, Intensity III was felt in Kabacan, North Cotabato, Lebak town in Sultan Kudarat and three towns in Bukidnon province including Maramag, Quezon and Don Carlos.

Intensity II was felt in Kidapawan City and Koronadal City while Intensity I was recorded in Camiguin, Misamis Oriental.

As of 7:17 am, PHIVOLCS has recorded six aftershocks, the strongest is the magnitude 4 earthquake recorded at 5:51 am still in Wao town. (davaotoday.com)
