DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A 6.5 magnitude earthquake again rocked parts of Mindanao at around 9:11 AM, Thursday (Oct. 31), according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 28 kilometers northeast of Tulunan, Cotabato.

This happened only two days after the same area was also jolted by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake on Oct. 29 that left at least seven people dead and scores injured.

According to Phivolcs, intensity VII was felt in Tulunan, Kidapawan City, and Sta. Cruz, Matanao, Bansalan in Davao del Sur; while intensity VI in Tampakan, South Cotabato.

Towns in the provinces of Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Misamis Oriental, and Northern Mindanao also felt the tremor.

PHIVOLCS said there are expected damages and aftershocks.

Meanwhile, the City Government of Davao has already declared suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools, as well as in government offices. It also encouraged the private sector to do the same to ensure the safety of the public. (davaotoday.com)
