DAVAO CITY, Philippines — An official of the Ateneo De Davao University said the school has been cleared of any bomb threat after a hoax caused the suspension of classes Friday afternoon.
In an interview with Davao Today, Jeremy S. Eliab, executive vice president of ADDU, said normal school operations will resume tomorrow after police and Task Force Davao members did not found any suspicious item inside the university.
Eliab said they received at least three to four calls and text messages reporting bomb threats late noon Fridayprompting the school to suspend classes in its Jacinto and Matina campuses.
“As part of our protocol we immediately declared Code Purple, an emergency code and conducted partial evacuation,” Eliab said.
The university has conducted total evacuation of students and employees as of 3 pm.
Sta. Ana Police Station Chief Inspector Nolan Raquid in a radio interview said they found no suspicious item in a building that was under threat.
However, Raquid did not immediately declare the university cleared until the whole university is checked.

Based on police investigation, a student received a threat through text past 12:00 pm. But at 1:55 pm, the same student received a call saying there is a bomb inside a particular building in the university.
Eliab said after they received the threats, they immediately called the Davao City Police Office and Task Force Davao to inspect the university with the school’s security officers.
He said the threats they received were “unusual” adding that they usually receive bomb threat during exam week.
Eliab said they have turned all information to the police for further investigations.
Last September 2, an improvised explosive device was set off at the night market outside the university killing 15 people and injuring more than 70 people.(davaotoday.com)
