Davao City orgs, institutions mobilize relief drives for typhoon victims in Luzon

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — With nearly a millions Filipinos in Luzon affected in the aftermath of three successive typhoons (Quinta, Rolly and Ulysses), organizations and institutions in Davao City are organizing relief drives and calling out Davaoeños to help.

After Typhoon Quinta (international name Molave) flooded Bicol Region after October 26, Supertyphoon Rolly (Goni) brought more destruction, as 82,900 persons remain displaced and 25 have died, according to the relief website of the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco) meanwhile flooded low-lying areas in Metro Manila, Rizal and Bicol on November 12, leaving at least 12 dead.

Kappa Epsilon Fraternity & Sorority – University of the Philippines Mindanao Chapter is open for donations for its brothers and sisters in Luzon that are affected by Typhoon Ulysses.

UP Mindanao Student Councils

The UP Mindanao Student Councils is raising funds for the UP students and their families who are hit by the storms.

BTS Army Bayanihan

Fans of K-pop band BTS in Davao have mobilized and are calling for donations to provide food packs to the areas affected by the typhoon in the country.

Southstar Drug

Southstar Drug is accepting cash and in-kind donations for communities who have been affected by the typhoons. Drop off centers are at ULAS branch (in front of coca-cola) and ABREEZA branch (inside Robinsons supermarket) along JP Laurel Avenue.

Ateneo de Davao University Community and Engagement Advocacy Council (UCEAC)

Ateneo de Davao University Community and Engagement Advocacy Council (UCEAC) calls for help for the families in Luzon who are affected by Typhoon Rolly.

Malayan Colleges Mindanao

Malayan Colleges Mindanao is also raising funds to aid the families affected of Typhoon Ulysses in Luzon.

Buklod Medisina

Buklod Medisina, the student council of Davao Medical School Foundation Inc. (DMSF) College of Medicine, in cooperation with DMSF Institute of Primary Health Care and Toni & Terry, is accepting both in-kind and monetary donations.
