DAVAO CITY, Philippines – An education supervisor at the Department of Education (DepEd) in Compostela Valley division were among the casualties killed in a crash in Mawab town, Compostela Valley (Comval) province on Friday evening, October 20.

Judy Ann Barulo, 36, Technology Livelihood Entrepreneurship Supervisor of DepEd-Comval and the driver Marcial Pamen, 40, died when their SUV was hit by a forward truck around 6:45 pm in Km. 70, Barangay Tuboran.

Sustaining injuries included two other teachers identified as education program supervisor of Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Nohara Pinute, and Comval province assistant schools division superintendent, Josie Bolofer. The forward truck driver, Tito Paler, 61, and his passenger Ryan Paques were also injured.

Based on a report from the Police Regional Office 11, the white SUV Adventure was carrying the 3 DepEd teachers when it collided with the forward truck with plate number ABV1818.

Initial police investigation revealed that Paler, 61, came from Tagum City and was heading towards Nabunturan town when the truck lost its brake while traversing the downhill portion of the road.
