Global campaign on violence against children set

CHILDRENS CONGRESS

A Global Campaign on Violence Against Children with the theme: Worldwide Day of Action to End Violence Against Children and Corporal Punishment will commence on October 19 this year to remind all nations of its vow to protect and uphold the rights of the children regardless of age, sex, color, religion, ethnicity, race and status.

To corroborate the call of ending violence against children especially corporal punishment, a Childrens Congress in Davao City will be conducted on October 19, 2007 from 8:00 to five in the afternoon at the Cursillos House along F. Torres St., Davao City.

The activity will be participated by 100 out of school children (street children, child laborers, children in conflict with the law, prostituted children) and in-school children (public and private school students). This activity will explore the issues on corporal punishment face by children as at aims to maximize childrens meaningful participation to express their own call and recommendations being an essential building block and partners in the development.

The whole day event will be marked by a motorcade that will start at the Rizal Park.
