DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A 17-year-old Lumad was “forcibly taken” by military elements in a Compostela town on Tuesday, December 5, a human rights group said.

Jean Baguio Bustamante was attending the wake of slain activist farmer Rodrigo Timoteo at Barangay Mambusao in Compostela, Compostela Valley Province when the incident happened, said Karapatan in a statement.

“Soldiers arrived and forcibly took her and brought her to (a) military detachment,” Karapatan said.

The group was referring to the 66th Infantry Battalion detachment in Purok 20 in the same village where Bustamante was reportedly taken.

Karapatan based its report from a testimony of one of Bustamante’s relatives, who said that the 17-year-old was brought into an army camp in New Bataan at around 2:00 pm.

Bustamante, said Karapatan, is a member of Compostela Farmers Association – Youth. (davaotoday.com)
