Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares expressed disappointment over the Sandiganbayan’s decision to allow Mike Arroyo to leave the country.

”While the spotlight is on the Senate, the Atimonan shootout, and the Aman Pyramid scam, Mike Arroyo is on his way out of the country for a meeting with OFWs in Japan in February.  It is disappointing how the government is treating the Arroyos.  Mrs. Gloria Arroyo who is charged of plunder, which is a crime punishable by reclusion perpetua, is under hospital arrest instead of languishing in jail.  Meanwhile her husband, Mike Arroyo who himself is charged with a million-dollar graft case in the NBN-ZTE deal is about to leave the country,” said Rep. Colmenares.

“This says a lot about the seriousness of the government to prosecute the Arroyos for the crimes they committed against the Filipinos.  And to think, not even one case against the Arroyos have vindicated the Filipino people.  If the administration is true to its promise to prosecute plunderers, it would definitely be able to make it come true.  President Aquino should fulfill his promise to prosecute the Arroyos,” ended Rep. Colmenares.
