Contractualization of workers blamed for airline lapses

Jan. 15, 2015

A labor group believes that the implementation of contractualization policy among workers of Cebu Pacific is the “main culprit” for the operational lapses of the airlines’ service last month. According to Gerard Seno, executive vice president of the Associated Labor Unions majority of Cebu Pacific employees are contractuals.  The group believes that “there is a big difference between the quality of work rendered by a regular worker than an outsourced and contractual one”. Seno said if regular workers handled the airlines’ operation “the damage could have been greatly minimized”. The Civil Aeronautics Board has imposed a P5,000 fine for every affected passenger. The carrier has a total of 10,400 affected passengers during its operation last December 24 to 26.
