Selection of new IP rep moved to Jan.21

Jan. 12, 2015

The selection for the new indigenous peoples’ representative in the Davao City Council is again moved this time to January 21. According to National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) regional legal officer Atty.Ronnie Bulotano, the Sangguniang Panglungsod rooftop, which was the supposed venue of the selection process today, could not accommodate the estimated 500 participants.

Eight aspirants from the Kagan tribe vied for the post as the city’s IP rep last January 7.

The selection, however, was postponed that day following the walk-out of tribal council leaders who could not agree on the selection process.

The IP representative aspirants are Janor Balo, Macapayao Apadan, Bobby Mohammad, Jafar Pandadagan, Larry Cabaguio, Joel Bustamante, Lito Lapitan, and Halila Sudagar. (davaotoday.com)
