Davao City – Militant groups mark the commemoration of the Filipino-American war with a protest action along Rizal Park Wednesday denouncing what they claim as ‘US intervention’ on the botched arrest operation of the police’s Special Action Force in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

The protesters lead by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan – Southern Mindanao region chanted US as the number one terrorist in the world after burning a makeshift US flag.

According to secretary-general Sheena Duazo US’ “drive for hegemony has turned countries into battlegrounds.”

“The US global war on terror is an aggression and neo-colonization. US ensures its dominance in the world by launching or instigating war in many countries including Philippines,” Duazo said.

Duazo said the presence of thousands of US troops here in the country which is allowed under the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) and the Enhance Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) “imperils the whole nation.”

“These agreements give the US military troops the freedom to use our lands and seas as their battleground,” said Duazo.

Duazo claimed that the US government and BS Aquino are the brains of the Mamasapano encounter and for that, “they must be held accountable.”

The Special Action Forces who were in Mamasapano encounter were US-trained troops but, according to Duazo, “it was clear to us,that the SAF were pawned to death by this government and by those US soldiers who trained them.”

Duazo said that Aquino government’s support for the “US’ global war on terror” allows the US military presence in Mindanao and “intervention” on the Philippines’ military operation.

“We are reiterating our demand to pull-out the US troops in the country and junk the VFA and EDCA. The US troops must be sent back home to where they belong. We demand justice must be served to all victims of US-Sponsored terrorism,” she said. (davaotoday.com)
