DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte has signed up as a person under monitoring (PUM) after showing flu-like symptoms of 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In his social media account, Duterte said that he subjected himself to a 14-day self-quarantine after experiencing flu-like symptoms in the past days after his travel to Metro Manila four weeks ago.

Vice Mayor Duterte said he is “feeling better “and is currently doing isolation in his residence while he awaits for the clearance from his medical doctor to be able to go out again.

“I would like to remind everyone to always follow the guidelines from the local government in view of the ongoing COVID-19 concerns,” he added.

In an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio DCDR 87.5 FM on Monday, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said his brother is showing symptoms such as sore throat, cough, and fever, which are the symptoms of COVID-19.

Mayor Sara, however said, she advised her brother not to avail the testing kit for COVID-19 due to the limitation of supply in the city.

“I hope he gets well soon,” she added.

Last week, Mayor Sara has placed herself under quarantine but discontinued after two days as recommended by the City Health Office after it was discovered that Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who Duterte met in Manila, did not have interaction with the resource person at a Senate hearing who tested positive for COVID-19.
